Paper Casting with your stamps

Have you ever heard of paper casting? Well, I just found out about it a couple of weeks ago and couldn't wait to try it. It turns out that it's SUPER easy and really fun and addicting! Want to try it? I'll tell you how...

You will need bathroom tissue, a rubber/acrylic stamp (with a simple design), and a dry towel or paper towels. (Here are some examples of papercasts that I did.)
Instructions:
1. Tear off about 8-10 squares of bathroom tissue and stack them on top of each other. You can use more or less squares depending on how thick the tissue is and how puffy you want your image. Moisten the paper in the sink. You will want to get it pretty wet.

2. Lay the bathroom tissue stack on your stamp. Press image into stamp. Use your fingers to push paper into the details.

3. While the paper is wet, tear sides for uneven edges or use the side of the stamp to tear straight edges on your image.

4. Using a dry towel or paper towels, press onto image to soak up excess water. Try to get as much water out as you can.

5. Carefully remove image from stamp and let dry.

After the papercast is dry, you can color these with chalks, Glimmer Mist as I did here, or other mediums. You can use the entire papercast on your card or layout, or just cut a portion of it like on this card:
Have fun with this technique!

April Inchies Mania

Inchies have been around the crafting scene for awhile, but I only heard about them recently as they are apparently are making a comeback in popularity. In fact, I have heard it said that inchies are the new ATC.

I love making ATCs (Artist Trading Cards) and so naturally, I was intrigued by the idea of playing with inchies.

What is an inchie, you might ask? Well basically, they are teeny tiny little pieces of art. They are one inch square in size, which is where they get their adorable name.

Typically inchies feature collage and stamping, although fabric inchies have been known to be popular with quilters and mixed media artists.

Inchies are the perfect way to use up your scraps. Due to their smaller size, in theory they can be faster to make than a full-sized ATC. Making inchies is also a great excuse to break out your one inch square punch. Here are a few that I made with the April kits:
There are plenty of inspirational resources online if you would like more information about inchies, including an Inchies Flikr Group.

Here are a few more photos of the inchies I made using the April kits:
So what do you do with an inchie after you make it? Plenty of things!
- put a grouping on a canvas (and display with pride)
- swap with other inchie artists
- use as an embellishment on a card or scrapbook page
- turn them into magnets
- make into a pendant
- embellish a bookmark
- begin a collection and start making a lot more!

I hope this project inspires you to make your own teeny tiny works of art.
I would love to see what you make!
Have a great day and have fun creating!

dried flower project

I really loved the Prima flowers in April's Label Tulip kit! They're just so pretty... they should be framed! So, I framed them... using Piggy Tale's flower press that I had(it has adhesive behind the metal part of the press).. I just stuck in the Prima flowers, adhered the flower press to colored cardstock and set it in the frame! I like how it turned out! tfl!

Hi there!

Hello! My name is Danielle and I'm so excited to be joining the Label Tulip team!! The kits are just amazing~ a great mix of goodies! I'm really honored to be working along side such amazing, talented ladies! I can't wait to get to know you all.

Let's see...I'm 37 and am a SAHM with 2 daughters. Taylor is 9 and Kati is 3 1/2. I grew up in South Dakota and shortly after my husband finished his 4 years in the military, we moved to New York to pursue a job for him in Computer Networking. So, we have been here 8 years now. His family lives here and have been so wonderful taking me in. I still miss home and my family in South Dakota, but I do enjoy it here also. We are upstate near Saratoga Springs, about 3 hours from New York City. It's very small town here and rural.

I began to get into papercrafting when my first daughter was born, when a friend introduced me to card making. Shortly after, I took a Creative Memories class and decided to make a baby book for Taylor. I scrapbooked here and there, but about 2 years ago, I discovered the on-line forums. That really opened up the book for me to meet new people and gain inspiration! Now I'm so addicted to chatting with my on-line scrappy friends and sharing ideas. I never thought I'd meet so many wonderful people!!

I am currently designing for Dream Street, Melissa Frances and Pink Paislee and have been submitting my work to several magazines. I love the creative side of it all and need that time daily to get my ideas out! I scrap mostly at night after everyone goes to bed. I am definitely a night owl!

Thanks for reading about me. I have a fun little project I found on-line to share with you! I think I'm going to have my girls make a few of these for Easter gifts, and I wanted to pass it along to you! HERE is the link. You do have to register and log in to download, but it's free!

Have a wonderful weekend,
Danielle

Hello and Happy Friday!

Hi there! My name is Christina and I am delighted to be able to indroduce myself as one of the newest Tulip Girls.

In all the world, there is nothing I love so much as playing with photos, paper, paint, and all the other nifty things that are a part of scrapbooking. Well... maybe blogging, and drinking coffee, and wearing cute shoes, but really that's about it. :D

I've always been considered a little bit artistic, and a little bit quirky. In high school my favorite classes were photography and pottery. I doodled on all of my book covers and spent many hours creating 'zines and working on the school newspaper. I used to art journal on the bus and write (bad) poetry.

After my first big vacation after graduation (a trip to New York) I made my first scrapbook using nothing but photos, magazine pages and trip memorabilia. My only adhesive was scotch tape. I really loved the process as much as the end result. So, I was absolutely ecstatic when I found out later that there was a whole hobby (with associated tools and pretty papers) just waiting for me to play with. I have to say though, the thing I love most about scrapbooking is the friends I have made and how I am able to document my life and be creative in such a personal way.

Besides scrapping and drinking way too much coffee, I love photography and have recently become an avid camera collector (we are talking 30+ at this point, most of which I do actually use... I know, crazy!).

I live in Seattle (land of coffee) and work for Starbucks (are you seeing a trend here?). I live with my cute boyfriend Greg. We have been dating for almost ten years. I don't have any pets, but I do have a coffee tree plant named Bob. He is almost four years old. He is the only plant I have ever kept alive for so long and I am quite proud of him.

Thank you for stopping by the blog and reading a little bit about me and the other fantastic girls on this team. Have a GREAT day!

Hello!

Hi,
Just wanted to pop on and say hello. My name is Anabelle O'Malley and I'm so excited to be one of the new Tulip Girls. Tulips are actually my very favorite flowers in the world. I love that they are the first that bloom in the spring and I love their simplicity. That's why I think it's a perfect fit for me to be at Label Tulip! Oh, and the fact that I absolutely adore the kits contributes a bit to my excitement, too. ;)
I live in Delaware with my husband and my son. I've been scrapping for the last five years and absolutely love it. I guess you could call it an obsession! One of the things that I love most about this hobby is the connections I have been able to make with other scrappers onine. I don't have an LSS nearby and none of my 'real world' friends scrap. So, the friendships I've formed online have been great. I'm looking forward to getting to know everyone at Label Tulip and finding inspiration from you all.
I've also been lucky to work on the publication side of things. I've had cards published in Paper Crafts and Cards and my layouts have been found in Scrapbooks Etc., Scrapbook Trends, and Scrapbooks and Cards Today, to name a few. This past August, I found out that I was selected as one of the 2009 Memory Makers Masters, so my pages have been featured in this magazine this year! It's been an amazing experince.
I do have a life outside of scrapping, though. ;) Pre-Ryan I was a teacher (mostly first grade) and I taught for 16 years. Now, I work part time at the local university, but mostly spend time with Ryan and tackle the never ending laundry pile at home! He'll be going to school for a full day next fall, so I'm taking full advantage of the time I have left with him at home.
I could probably ramble on even more, but don't want to bore you to death! I'll leave you with one last thing. An image of my very favorite type of tulip.

Now it's your turn. Leave a comment by midnight Friday, April 3 telling me about your favorite kind of tulip or your favorite flower. I'll choose a winner from the comments and send out a little RAK. ;)
Thanks for stopping by! Have a wonderful day!
